BELFAST CITY MARATHON, Irlanda do Norte, 2 de maio

Os etíopes Abay Alemu e Tadesse Mamo dominaram e só conseguiram ser divididos por um centésimo de segundo na frente do evento, já que ambos obtiveram 2:16:24.

A dupla se destacou nos momentos finais antes de uma finalização em sprint ver Alemu quebrar a fita em primeiro lugar. “Estou muito feliz e as pessoas foram muito simpáticas”, disse Alemu: “O tempo estava muito frio e o ritmo não era bom, mas a sensação é boa”.

Atrás, um terceiro etíope, Abera Ketema, ficou um minuto atrás, já que Josh Griffiths, do Swansea, foi o primeiro britânico em 2:18:01, enquanto o quinto colocado Jonathan Cornish estabeleceu seu recorde pessoal em 2:19:38.

Para as mulheres, a corredora marroquina da Copa do Mundo de Montanha, Aziza Selsouli, saiu vitoriosa com 2:38:00.

Houve batalhas acirradas nas corridas masculina e feminina antes de Poppy Tank e Ben Felton prevalecerem por pouco sobre Callum Charleston e Amelia Quirk.

Para a vencedora feminina Tank, que chegou em casa por dois ticks em 15:38 e foi seu recorde pessoal por seis segundos, batendo seu tempo de 31 de dezembro de 2024 em uma das corridas da série Podium.

A medalhista de prata nacional inglesa de cross-country, Quirk, estava fazendo sua primeira corrida nas estradas este ano e seu retorno às 15:40 ficou sete segundos abaixo de seu melhor desempenho do ano.
